The deep golden brown hues found in this smoked 2-strip floor from the Da Capo Collection highlight its rustic expression. Knots and cracks pepper the boards, resulting in a beautifully aged effect reminiscent of reclaimed timber. Each board is carefully brushed to bring out the character of the grain and highlight the natural texture of the wood. Four-sided bevelling ensures a classic, full plank look and feel. Each board is meticulously hand-scraped, which enhances the worn appearance of the floor.

About Kahrs

Kahrs have been working with wood for more than 160 years, making them one of the olders flooring companies in the world.
They were the first to develop an engineered, multi-layer floor, way back in 1941. Using under-layers of flexible softwoods, meant the floors were far less reactive to moisture and temperature changes, increasing their strength and durability.
Always eco conscious, Kahrs gained ISO 14001 environmental certification in 1997, as waste products from production are turned into heating for the local community around the main factroy plant in Nybro, Sweden. Any ash residue from production is also used as fertilizer in the surrounding forests.
Today, Kahrs is a global market leader, with sales in 70 countries. Their passion for high quality craftmanship, environmental standards and continual innovation gives them a global reputation as one of the highest quality wood floor manufacturers in the market.

Quality in Wood since 1857
Kährs
Kahrs is the world's oldest wood floor manufacturer still in operation, with a history dating back over 160 years. It was founded in 1857 as a family business in the small town of Nybro in southern Sweden. As well as the most historic, Kahrs are also one of the most innovative manufacturers in the flooring market. They invented the world's first multi-layer floor board in 1941. They were also the first floor manufacturer to develop a glueless joint system, known as the Woodloc® joint, which has been enhanced and refined over the years and allows the floor boards to be clicked and locked together for a strong, gap-free floor with no adhesive required.
SUSTAINABLE FLOORING
Beauty with a Conscience
The majority of the raw material used in the production of Kahrs wood floors is sourced from the dense forests that surround the main factory. More trees are planted than harvested and waste material from the production process is recycled into bio-fuel to heat the production facilities and power the homes of around 45,000 local residents. So this beautiful natural material can be crafted into eye-catching, warm, versatile wood floors in a sustainable way. Kahrs were awarded an ISO 14001 environmental management certification over a decade ago for their eco-friendly and sustainable practices.
STRENGTH & FLEXIBILITY
Engineered Wood Flooring
The multi-layered engineered flooring board, which was first invented by Kahrs back in 1941, solves the issues of instability and vulnerability suffered by solid wood floors. By utilising flexible softwoods like spruce and pine on the lower layers of the board, woods less reactive to moisture and temperature, it ensures the floor stays stable throughout changing temperatures and humidity levels across the seasons and means it can be used with underfloor heating. It also means the cherished hardwood is only used for the top layer above the joint, the usable part of the floor, avoiding wastage and maximising sustainabilty. In short, Engineered Wood Flooring is the most efficient and effective way of creating a strong, durable and stable real wood floor that will stand the test of time.

FLOOR PLANNER
The Kährs Floor Planner allows you to see how different floors can transform a space into something new and different. View the floor in a range of different rooms and interior spaces, change the angle the floor is laid, compare it in the same room with another floor, and even upload an image of your own home to see how the floor would look in your space.
HOW TO CHOOSE
YOUR WOOD FLOOR
Lacquer or Oiled Finish?
In general, a lacquered surface reflects the light more than an oiled one. An exception to this rule is the new Kahrs ultra matt lacquer finish which makes the floor look and feel as if it was made from untreated, freshly sawn timber.

Satin lacquered floors reflect light the most and have a smooth sheen to the surface. The lacquer makes the floor more hardwearing and easier to clean. Kahrs have worked hard to develop a satin lacquer that provides protection without concealing the natural beauty and character of the wood.

Matt lacquered floors have a soft, natural surface that is pleasant to walk on barefoot, slightly more textured than the satin laquered finish. The matt lacquer is as hardwearing and easy to maintain as the satin, but absorbs light better so the colour of the floor shows through even in direct sunlight.

Floors treated with the new Kahrs Ultra-Matt Lacquer finish look and feel as if they are made from untreated, newly sawn timber, but with a strong, yet silky, and invisible shield against wear and tear. The ultra-matt finish gets as close to an oiled finish as possible but without the extra maintenance.

Kahrs oil gives the floor a natural and beautiful look. Oil brings out the fine structure and grain of the wood and enhances its natural colour, whilst protecting against daily wear. All Kahrs Oiled floors come ready-oiled but it is important to add a second coat of oil once the floor is laid to seal into the joints.
It's Not Just About Looks, Make Your Floor Feel Good Too!
One of the biggest benefits of choosing a real wood floor over a laminate or vinyl floor is the natural feel of the wood underfoot. Kahrs implement a range of refinining treatments to their floors to further enhance and embrace the natural characteristics of the floor.

BRUSHED FLOORS
Brushing the surface of the wood highlights the natural structure of the grain, and emphasizes the texture of the board.

STAINING
Staining can enhance the wood's natural colour tones or even allow a completely new colour to be applied, from the palest white shades to rich charcoal blacks.

SMOKING
The boards are smoked during the manufacturing process, altering the colour and shade of the floor. There are two grades of smoking, lightly smoked or the darker, more dramatic fully smoked treatment.

BEVELLING
A bevelled edge on a 1-strip floor really helps to highlight the shape of the plank when laid, further enhancing that real wood aesthetic. Microbevelling adds subtle depth to the edges, bevelling gives more prominent shape on both the long and short sides of the plank.

HANDSCRAPING
By using different tools for manual wood scraping and sanding, Kahrs can give a new wood floor a worn, vintage and distressed appearance. A great amount of effort and handcraft goes into each floor to achieve this rustic character.
