Far Eastern Plywood
Plywood is made from thin layers of wood that are peeled from logs. These layers (called veneers) are then glued together, under heat and pressure, with the grain direction of each layer perpendicular to that of the next layer, to make plywood. Because of the way plywood is bonded (with grains running against one another and with an odd number of composite parts) it is very hard to bend it perpendicular to the grain direction. A common reason for using plywood instead of plain wood is its resistance to cracking, shrinkage, twisting/warping, and its general high degree of strength.
This plywood is available with full FSC chain of custody. FSC certification means that the plywood contains wood from well managed forests independently certified to Forest Stewardship Council rules.
The Malaysian product has hardwood faces with FSC certified Radiata Pine core veneers.
