VELUX Solar Collectors offer a flexible, streamlined and eco-friendly approach to providing hot water.

The Solar Collectors fit snug in the roof, integrating discreetly and blending with both modern and traditional styles.

They can be installed in numerous combinations and use the same VELUX flashing system as the roof windows so that collectors and windows can be fitted alongside one another.

In terms of sizes, the VELUX recommendation is for 1m2 - 1.5m2 of aperture area per person living within the accommodation, this should provide sufficient energy for hot water.

The installer will decide for themselves what Cylinder specification is best but VELUX offers a standard recommendation of 180L capacity for a typical solar hot water system within a 2-bed house. 280L capacity is recommended for 3-4 Bed houses and 375L for a 5-bed house.

You will also need flow and return pipes from the cylinder, and connecting pipes between the Solar Collector and Glycol heat transfer liquid.

VELUX Glycol fluid comes pre-mixed and ready to use. The quantity of heat transfer liquid depends on the total volume of the solar system.
