Buyers Guide – Lawnmowers

Choosing the right lawnmower primarily depends on the size of lawn which you have, and also the style of cut which you wish to achieve and the accessibility of power sources.

There are various types of mowers to choose from and their suitability depends on the type of lawn that you will use them on. Cylinder mowers have blades which rotate vertically. They cut close to the grass and are best suited to lawns which are quite level as they do not do as well on slopes. Rotary mowers have blades which rotate horizontally. They cope well with rough patches of land and slopes. If you have difficulty maneuvering a mower or have a large garden, then a self propelled mower such as the OleoMac G47TQ might be worth considering. Hover mowers use rotating blades and, as their name suggests, hover over the surface of the grass. They are quick and easy to use and good for keeping a lawn neat, although they don’t cut as close as other mowers.

As well as the types of mowers which are available, it is also important to make the decision between choosing an electric or petrol powered mower. Electric mowers are best for small to medium sized lawns, and tend to be lighter and easier to maneuver than petrol mowers. While petrol mowers do tend to be heavier, they are also more powerful, and tend to be used for larger areas of lawn or longer grass.
