Q: What is a fire door?

A: A fire door, or a fire check door, is an interior door which has been certified to offer a certain level of fire resistance. Fire doors are usually certified as FD30, meaning they offer a minimum of 30 minutes of fire resistance, or FD60 for 60 minutes of protection.

Fire doors usually look the same as their non - fire door equivalents, but are more expensive as they have a solid core. Most fire doors come with a thickness of 44mm, which are a few millimeters thicker than the majority of non - fire doors.
